Flight Ticket Price Hike: If you are thinking of going home in the upcoming festive season, then let us tell you that the airfare for Dussehra and Diwali has already started skyrocketing. On many domestic routes in the country, ticket prices have increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. Some airlines have announced some offers for customers, but this is very less in proportion to the increase in airfare. In such a situation, if you travel by air during the festive season, you will have to loosen your pockets more.
Advance Booking Increased By 30 to 35 Percent
This year, Dussehra will be celebrated on October 12. At the same time, the festival of Diwali is between October 31 and November 2. In such a situation, people go to their homes in large numbers during the festive season, the effect of which is seen on the airfare. Many months before Dussehra and Diwali, people try to book many tickets. They expect cheap air tickets, but the airfares start skyrocketing even after the companies offer discounts.
The number of flight bookings during the festive season increases dramatically. This year, tremendous bookings are also being seen for October and November.
Tickets Became Most Expensive On These Routes
According to a report by Moneycontrol, ixigo said airfares are rising more than last year for Diwali 2024. This rise is being seen three months before the booking. One-way fares on many popular domestic routes are also rising tremendously. The airfare between Mumbai and Patna has already crossed Rs 20,000.
At the same time, the fare from Bangalore to Varanasi and Bangalore to Patna has reached between Rs 24,000 and Rs 30,000. At the same time, the fares on important routes like Mumbai to Lucknow and Delhi to Guwahati have reached between Rs 14,000 and Rs 18,000. There is a 21 per cent increase in one-way fare between the Mumbai-Hyderabad route and a 15 per cent increase in airfare on the Delhi-Chennai route.
What Is The Government Doing
Given the rising airfares before the festive season, the central government has requested airlines to increase the number of flights on certain routes. Talking to Moneycontrol, a senior government official said that we have asked many airlines to operate more flights on major routes of the country. This will help in controlling airfares. Let us tell you that due to the mismatch of demand and supply in the country, there is a huge increase in airfares.
