Diamond Buyers to Get Relief, CCPA to Introduce New Rules

The government made hallmarking mandatory for jewellery in June 2021 to test the purity of gold. After this, customers buying gold jewellery heaved a sigh of relief. Before hallmarking on gold jewellery was implemented, there was a game with the customer in which the shop owners called their jewellery 24 carats. Still, in reality, it was only 21 or 22 carats.

This is exactly what happens to diamond buyers. To avoid this, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) will soon establish a rule for clear labelling and certification of diamonds. After this, diamond buyers can buy diamonds without any fear.

These Rules Will Come For Diamonds

A meeting of key stakeholders and experts was held under the chairmanship of CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare. After the meeting, it was said that the CCPA will soon introduce transparency, accountability, and consumer protection guidelines in the diamond business.

How Customers Are Cheated

The process of making diamonds is very long, and the demand for diamonds is also high. To take advantage of this, some people sell synthetic diamonds. However, the jewellery shop owners do not provide any information about this. When the customer learns about this, he feels cheated.

What Can Be In The Diamond Guidelines?

CCPA can implement certifications such as the hallmarking system of gold jewellery in the guidelines that will be made for the sale of diamonds. Also, customers will have to be told about synthetic diamonds. CCPA can also implement a labelling system. After this, whenever you buy a diamond from a jewellery shop, you will not have to fear about synthetic diamonds.
