Delhi Metro Rail Corporation – Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) received the first Metropolis metro trainset on Monday, equipped with driverless technology. Alstom Company has prepared it and is part of the first project outsourced to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
What Will Be The Speed Of The Train
The train set equipped with driverless technology has been designed to run safely at 95 km per hour on the tracks and operate at an operating speed of up to 85 km per hour.

The train set will be run on three Delhi Metro lines: two extended lines and the new Gold Line-10, which is about 64.67 km long.
‘Make in India’ Driverless Metro Dream Comes True
Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the metro train is being designed at Alstom’s manufacturing unit in Sri City, India. It has been equipped with Grade of Automation (GOA)-4 driverless technology.

According to the press release, this project costs 312 million euros and includes 15 years of maintenance. This is the first such outsourcing to an OEM through DMRC. According to Alstom’s managing director, Olivier Loison, metro train sets will greatly improve people’s quality of life and advance urban development.

DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar said this is a historic moment for the Delhi Metro family as we have taken another important step to start the fourth phase corridor. Under this, the first set of trains to extend the new phase has been dispatched from Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. This contract was given in November 2022 with the target of the fourth operation phase. Under this, the target is to supply 52 train sets with six coaches.
