Ashneer Grover, co-founder and former managing director of fintech company BharatPe, has become a fan of the Income Tax Department. He thanked the department for closing the faceless assessment of ITR promptly after the return of the income tax notice.
Ashneer Made This Update
Grover shared an update about this on social media platform X on Friday. He wrote- Thank you to the Income Tax Department for timely closing the faceless assessment of my income tax return for the financial year 2021-22—that too with zero demand. Grover also described himself as an honest taxpayer. He said that he has always been an honest taxpayer.
Notice Was Received For This Reason
According to Grover, his income tax return for 2021-22 was filed by his late father, Ashok Grover, who was also his CA till his death. Grover said his father was very straightforward, and he kept Ashneer honest. Ashneer Grover also said that the income tax notice he received a few days ago had come due to a system mistake. For this reason, he has removed the old tweet.
Notice Was Received This Week
Earlier on March 12, Ashneer Grover had told in an update on X that he had received a notice from the Income Tax Department. He wrote that the Income Tax Department sent a notice today at 8 am. I have been asked to produce my accounts and documents by 12:28 pm tomorrow (Wednesday, March 13).
Were Angry After Receiving The Notice
After receiving the notice, Ashneer Grover became very angry. He expressed his anger by tagging Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He had asked about the notice and whether this was tax terrorism or some revenge. Grover has now removed that tweet. Ashneer Grover has already criticized Indian taxation on many occasions. He believes that honest taxpayers in India must pay a lot of taxes.
