Air India To Recruit New Pilots: Air India is facing opposition to the latest salary package; Air India has decided to recruit more than 1000 pilots. Apart from senior pilots, trainee pilots will also be appointed in this. Earlier on April 17, the company had introduced a new salary package plan for pilots and crew members. But it was rejected by both the pilot unions, the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and the Indian Pilots Guild. After ten days, the company has now announced the recruitment of new pilots.

The Company Has Ordered 470 Aircraft

Tata Group-owned Air India has placed orders for 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. These include large-size aircraft as well. Under this, 210 A320/321 Neo/XLR and 40 A350-900/1000 aircraft will be purchased from Airbus. At the same time, Boeing’s 190- 737-Max, 20- 787S and 10- 777 aircraft will be purchased. The company currently has over 1,800 pilots.

Meanwhile, Talks Are On With The Pilot Union

Air India introduced the new salary package plan for its pilots and crew members on April 17. Both the pilot unions rejected it, the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and the Indian Pilots Guild. Pilot unions say the airline has not held talks with them before finalizing the new contracts.

The new pay structure announced by Air India for pilots and cabin crew included a guaranteed flying allowance of 40 hours per month for the employees. Along with doubling the flying allowance of pilots, it was also announced to introduce a flying allowance for flight attendants in the pay structure. But some subsidies were abolished for cabin crew, such as an allowance for working on wide-body aircraft and a quick turnaround flight allowance.
