These Top 5 Electric Cars Will Be Launched This Year, Which Ones Will You Buy?

The market for electric vehicles is growing rapidly in the country, and people are gradually adopting EVs. Vehicle manufacturing companies are also expanding their portfolio. Today, we tell you about the top 5 electric cars coming this year, whose prices will be between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 40 lakh.

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors has introduced its first electric car, Punch EV, based on the new Acti—EV platform. The Punch EV is an all-electric variant that matches the styling of the Nexon. Other exterior features include updated taillights and aerodynamic-designed alloy wheels.

Talking about changes in the cabin, a 2-spoke steering wheel, revised dashboard layout and a new touch-based climate control panel are included. It has a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include electronic stability control and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Tata Punch EV prices range from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 15.5 lakh ex-showroom. It has two battery packs of 25 kWh and 35 kWh capable of giving a range of 321 km and 421 km, respectively.

Citroen C3X EV

The upcoming C3X crossover sedan is set to come in an electric variant, which has received design changes to differentiate it from the standard model. It will still get the coupe-like roof with EV-specific differences. This electric sedan is also expected to be based on the same platform as the C3X and C3 Aircross SUVs.

Although its details are limited, the powertrain is expected to have a larger battery pack of around 44 kWh and a stronger electric motor. Like the C3X, it will get a 10.2-inch touchscreen, digital driver display, 6 airbags and a reversing camera. Citroen C3X EV can be launched in September; its price is expected to be between Rs 15 to 20 lakh.

Tata Curvv EV

The upcoming Tata Curvv EV marks the launch of a new model for the company. Its design language will be similar to the company’s existing electric SUVs, Nexon EV and Punch EV, with a long LED DRL strip at the front, triangular housing for the headlights and connected LED tail lights. Its cabin may offer minimalist appeal, highlighted by dual digital displays for infotainment and driver’s display.

Positioned between the Nexon EV and Harrier EV, this electric compact SUV is expected to share key features with its Tata sibling, including a large touchscreen infotainment unit, touch-based climate control and features like ADAS. Regarding the powertrain, the Curve EV is likely to be offered with multiple battery packs, including 30 kWh and 40.5 kWh. Tata Curvv EV can be launched in April. Its price is expected to be Rs 20 to 25 lakh.

Maruti EVX

Maruti will introduce its first electric car, EVX, in the Indian market by 2024. Test mules of this electric SUV have been spotted several times, indicating that it is nearly ready for production. Design highlights include sleek headlights, LED DRLs, muscular wheel arches, and connected LED taillights. The interior will have a minimalist layout, while the integrated screen will be at the centre.

Expected features of this electric compact SUV include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, auto climate control and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include 6 airbags, ESC, and advanced driver assistance features. It will likely be equipped with blind spot monitoring and auto emergency braking.

The Maruti eVX is expected to pack a 60 kWh battery, which may be offered in front-wheel drive and AWD systems. Maruti EVX can be launched in December. Its price is expected to be Rs 22 to 28 lakh.

Mahindra’s most demanding mid-size SUV, the XUV700, is all set to be introduced as an all-electric variant, the XUV.e8. It is expected to have two battery pack options, ranging between 60 and 80 kWh. Buyers can also have the option of a dual-motor all-wheel drivetrain (AWD). The XUV.e8 will be the first offering in Mahindra’s new line of EVs based on the INGLO platform. The exterior design will be like XUV700.
