IndiGo to Launch Air Taxis in India by 2026, Major Cities to Get Connected

Great news for the people living in big cities in India. It is said that by 2026, IndiGo can start air taxis in the country. According to the World Economic Forum report, India rapidly develops vertiports for air taxis. With the help of these vertiports, big cities can be connected. Let us tell you what the vertiports are and which big cities in the country will be connected first.

First, Know What Vertiports

Vertiport is a special type of airport designed for vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. It is prepared for things like air taxis or drones in simple language. There are no runways here, but air taxis can fly directly above their place and land from here. Vertiport can also have charging stations for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Apart from this, there are facilities for passengers to travel and a waiting area.

Which Big Cities Are Being Connected

Currently, the cities in India that are being talked about connecting with the help of air taxis include Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. VTOOL flights can be started between these cities soon. If this happens, travelling from one place to another in these business cities will become very easy.

Now, if you go from Delhi to Gurugram, it takes you about 60 to 90 minutes. If there is more traffic, then this time increases even more. But, if you must go from Delhi to Gurugram by air taxi, this time will be only 7 to 8 minutes. The situation is similar in other cities as well. For example, when Bangalore is connected to Electronics City by air taxi, it will take only 19 minutes to cover the distance of 51 km between them.
