The Ministry of Health said that the deceased child had taken the one-max syrup for 2 to 7 days before being admitted to the hospital. A total of 21 children were admitted to the medical centre due to difficulty breathing due to a cold. 18 of them have died. Uzbekistan claims that syrup samples have been tested and found to contain ethylene glycol, which is considered toxic.

Therefore, it is likely to cause problems such as vomiting, unconsciousness, heart attack and kidney failure. Apart from this, it is claimed that the Indian company’s medicine used as an anti-cold has a higher dosage than the prescribed standard.

On Tuesday, the Central Drug Regulatory Team approached the Uttar Pradesh Drug Licensing Authority to investigate the incident. Officials of the State Drugs Regulatory Authority have confirmed this.

The Deputy Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh Drugs Control and Licensing Authority said that no further information about the investigation had been released. Marion Biotech’s Noida-based manufacturing unit was not inspected till late Tuesday, people familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity. Samples (including raw material) are taken from the batch of cough syrup exported. The test centre will be conducted in the government laboratory, and the entire incident will be out after the test report.
