The Uttar Pradesh government has fulfilled the promises made to 1.86 crore families of the state on Diwali. Rs 1,890 crore has been allocated for this gift. Today, the state government issued a statement saying that under this initiative, the ‘double engine government’ had promised to give free cylinders, and work has been started to fulfil it.
Let us tell you that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free LPG cylinders have been distributed in the state for two years during the festivals of Holi and Diwali. The Food and Logistics Department has completed the distribution as soon as possible, per the government order.

Women are especially waiting to get these free cylinders, and now this wait is about to end. Under this scheme, the Aadhaar certification process is ongoing. For those whose Aadhaar authentication has been done, the way is open for them to get free cylinders before Diwali. These free cylinders will be given to only those beneficiaries whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar and are valid.
Last Year, Also The Government Distributed Free Cylinders
Last year, the government distributed free LPG cylinders to 1.85 crore families, including over 85 lakh women. The price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is Rs 842.42, and these cylinder prices are as of September. Under the Ujjwala scheme, the central government gives every beneficiary a subsidy of Rs 300 while the state government bears the rest of the discount.
