Air Taxi May Launch In India By 2026; It Will Be Launched First In These Cities

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation rules, vertiports will be built for these air taxis. These vertiports will be designed so the air taxi can do vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) from here. These vertiports will be built on the lines of airports.

Indigo Signs Deal With Archer Aviation For 200 Midnight Aircraft

The first attempt to launch an air taxi was made by InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of the country’s largest airline, IndiGo. It has signed an agreement with California-based company Archer Aviation to acquire its VTOL aircraft Midnight. Archer Aviation is an electric air taxi manufacturer. IndiGo has invested $1 billion and signed a deal for 200 Midnight aircraft.

The First Air Taxi May Start In Delhi, Followed By Mumbai

According to DGCA, they have held extensive discussions with all stakeholders to formulate rules for vertiports. According to the rules, guidelines have been set for infrastructure, air taxi operational guidelines, battery charging, parking, landing and emergency response for vertiports. Vertiports will be given clearance only after following all these rules. According to the Times of India report, the first air taxi can start in Delhi. After this, this facility will also be provided in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
