Kavach: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said modern technology like the indigenously developed anti-collision system ‘Kavach’ will now be implemented rapidly. He said that India has chosen Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for the third time, which is decisive and visionary, and its effect is visible in every aspect of life, including Indian Railways.
Railways Were Politicized – Railway Minister’s Allegation
Ashwini Vaishnaw alleged that a technical organization like the Railways was politicized. He said it lacked technology and investment, and nothing changed for decades. The railway minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi made extensive changes to it, and investment in railways increased tenfold. He encouraged us to adopt new technology, and above all, he changed our mindset.” Ashwini Vaishnaw said this in his welcome speech before Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat trains on Saturday.

What Is ‘Kavach’ For Railways
While mentioning various initiatives, the Railway Minister gave information about the electrification of tracks, the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, the testing of Vande Metro, and the implementation of the anti-collision system Kavach. The ‘Kavach’ system helps run the train within the required speed limit by automatically applying brakes in case the loco pilot fails to apply brakes. Also, this Kavach system helps run the train safely during bad weather.

Kavach can stop the train by identifying the train ahead or any other obstacle, which was claimed to prevent collisions and derailments. Also, the first Kavach tender was issued in 2021 and was only for 3000 km. The Kavach system is capable of preventing accidents caused by human error.
