Veteran batsman Rahul Dravid, who has been a staunch supporter of cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics, said on Sunday that cricketers are very excited to be a part of these games and he has heard ‘serious talks in the dressing room’ about competing in the world’s biggest sporting event.
Cricket has been included in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. Dravid is in the French capital to participate in a panel discussion on ‘Cricket in Olympics: The beginning of a new era’.
Cricketers Want To Stand On The Podium
Former Indian captain and coach Dravid said, ‘I have heard serious talks in the dressing room about this. People are also discussing the 2028 Olympic Games, the T20 World Cup 2026, and the ODI World Cup 2027. I have heard them say that there will be an Olympics in 2028. ‘Cricketers also want to win gold medals, stand on the podium, and be a part of the sports village, a big sporting event, and interact with many players.’
Cricketers Will Prepare
Dravid said, ‘I am sure that when the next Olympics will come closer, cricketers will be preparing for it. They will take it seriously and the players will work hard to reach there.’ During the discussion at India House, this great batsman was also present with International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Geoff Allardice. Dravid expressed hope that India will win gold medals in both men’s and women’s categories in the Olympic Games, which will be held after four years.
