LPG customers were greatly relieved just before voting in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The government oil and gas marketing companies reduced the price of LPG cylinders for the third time, making the cost three times lower after the election process started.
These Customers Are Going To Get The Benefit
According to the notification issued by the government oil companies, the price of LPG cylinders in various cities of the country has been reduced by about Rs 70 from today. However, the benefit of this reduction will be available only on 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders. There has been no change in the price of LPG cylinders for domestic use this time.

After the latest reduction, the price of a 19 kg cylinder in Delhi has decreased by Rs 69.50 to Rs 1676. Earlier in April, the price was reduced by Rs 19 and came down to Rs 1,745.50. Similarly, commercial LPG cylinders will be available in Kolkata starting today at Rs 1,787. People of Mumbai will now have to pay Rs 1,629 for this big cylinder, while in Chennai, their prices will now be Rs 1,840.50.
Final Phase Of The Election
This reduction in the price of 19 kg commercial cylinders comes as the Lok Sabha elections are in their final stage across the country. The Lok Sabha elections started in April. Today, 1 June, the last voting phase is being held. After that, the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be out on 4 June.
Last Month, There Was A Reduction
Earlier last month, the price of LPG cylinders also decreased. From the first day of the month, 1 April, the price of 19 kg LPG cylinders was reduced by Rs 19. At the same time, from 1 May, the cost of commercial LPG cylinders decreased by Rs 19. Before April, commercial cylinders’ prices increased for three consecutive months.
These Customers Have Not Got Relief For 3 Months
The price of domestic LPG cylinders was last changed in March, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a reduction of Rs 100 in the cost of LPG cylinders on Women’s Day (8 March 2024). A day before that, on 7 March, the Modi government relieved the common people of LPG cylinders. Then, the cabinet announced a subsidy of Rs 300 to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana till 31 March 2025. Since then, there has been no change in the price of 14 kg cylinders. That is, there has been no change in the price of cylinders for domestic use for almost 3 months.
