Pakistan Applied To Become A Member Of BRICS, Should India Give Approval?

Pakistan has applied for BRICS, an organization of developing countries. Russia’s Tass news agency has given this information. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, has sought Russia’s help to get membership in BRICS and fill out the application.

Let us tell you that at the last BRICS summit this year, South Africa invited six new countries to join its alliance. These countries include Egypt, Argentina, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and UAE. These countries will become member countries of BRICS from January 1, 2024.

BRICS already has Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa as member countries. In such a situation, with the addition of 6 new members, there will now be 11 countries in BRICS Plus. BRICS is now being called BRICS PLUS. China already wants Pakistan to become a part of BRICS so that its influence can be further strengthened.

In 2001, economist Jim O’Neill used the term BRIC to draw attention to the strong growth rates in Brazil, Russia, India and China. Research by Jim O’Neil said that by 2050, the combined economies of the BRIC countries will leave behind the economies of the then-rich countries.

The first meeting of BRIC Foreign Ministers was held in Russia in 2006 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The first summit of BRIC was born in 2009.

Just one year later, in late 2010, South Africa was included. After South Africa joined this group, the name of BRIC changed to BRICS.
