Veteran technology company Apple has taken a big step toward AR, i.e. Augmented Reality. The company has acquired Mira, an AR headset maker. There is no information about how much this deal has been done for. Meanwhile, Apple launched its AR headset Vision Pro, which costs $3,499.
Apple itself has confirmed this acquisition. Earlier, it was reported that tech giant Apple had hired around 11 employees of Mira Startup. Sharing a post on his personal Instagram, Mira’s CEO Ben Taft has told how the startup started from a single room and has now been bought by a giant company like Apple.
This Startup Is From Los Angeles
Mira is a Los Angeles-based startup founded in 2016 by Ben Taft. He is a specialist in making Augmented Reality, i.e. AR headsets. The company has worked with several clients, including Universal Studios. Significantly, this startup had former Apple product designer Jony Ive, who continued to work as an advisor for the startup.
Recently Apple Launched Vision Pro Headset
With the Vision Pro AR headset launch, Apple has taken an important step in Augmented Reality. The $3,499 Vision Pro headset will be available in early 2024. Its launch will be from the US market. Apple has not yet clarified its plan after Mira’s acquisition. However, this move by Apple shows that the company wants to improve its AR and VR capabilities.
Vision Pro Has Many Features
Apple’s Vision Pro has more innovative features than a smartphone. It has 12 cameras, which is much more than a normal smartphone. At the same time, a True Depth Camera, AR Camera, and LiDAR scanner have been given. It also has two ultra-high-resolution displays. Its display screen can be made as big as a cinema hall.
Along with this, you will also get the experience of surround sound. It is made from aluminium frame and laminated glass. A budget has also been given for this so that spatial photos and videos can be recorded.
