PCB Angry Due To Sri Lanka Hosting Asia Cup, Refused To Play ODI Series

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023: Controversy has been going on for a long time regarding the organization of Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan was going to host it. But the clouds of crisis are hovering over it. At present, the status of its organization is not clear. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has shown interest in organizing it. Due to this, the Pakistan Cricket Board has become angry. According to reports, Pakistan has refused to play the ODI series in Sri Lanka.

According to PTI news, Sri Lanka has expressed its desire to host the entire tournament of the Asia Cup, which has soured the relations between the cricket boards of these two countries. Sources said, “An example of the sourness between the cricket boards of these two countries is the PCB’s refusal to play the ODI series in Sri Lanka next month.”

Pakistan is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka to play two Test matches in July this year as part of the next ICC World Test Championship cycle. Along with this, Sri Lanka had also proposed to play the ODI series in front of the PCB.

According to reports, the PCB initially said it would consider the proposal but has rejected it. “It is a clear indication that the PCB is not happy with Sri Lanka Cricket’s offer to host the Asia Cup in September while it is Pakistan’s turn to host the regional tournament,” he said.

Significantly, this year many big tournaments are to be played. The final match of the World Test Championship between India and Australia will be played from June 7. After this, the World and Asia Cup will also be organized. But the Asia Cup and World Cup dates have not been announced yet. Additionally, the venue of both these tournaments could not be ascertained.
