There are millions of users of WhatsApp in India who use it for their different needs. The company also keeps making new changes to improve the experience of its users. Continuing this trend, WhatsApp is reportedly planning to upgrade the platform.
As per a report by WABetaInfo, the channels are still under development so that users will see a new ‘Updates’ tab replaced by a redesigned Status tab.
For Which Users Will The Feature Be Rolled Out?
With the first version of the new Updates tab, muted status updates will be available in a separate section titled ‘Muted Status’. WhatsApp is rolling out the feature for select beta testers with firmware iOS 23.11.0.74 through the TestFlight beta program.
Muted Status Will Appear In A Separate Section

There will also be another shortcut to create status updates, and it has been integrated into the menu that appears when the user taps on the plus icon at the top of the screen.
WhatsApp has also mentioned that channels will also support handles, so users can search for a specific channel by entering their usernames within WhatsApp.
