Bailey Bridge: Border Roads Organization (BRO) laying the network of road network in North East India (bro) has presented another example of his ability. BRO has connected Kilima and Nirak in Ladakh by constructing a 160 feet Bailey Bridge on Neemu-Padam Darga road.
After the construction of this bridge, the people of Zanskar have been connected to Leh and Kargil. It will now take less than six hours to reach Leh from Padam via this route. Similarly, travelling to Kargil via Kilima, Nirak, and Wanla will save three hours. This feat of BRO will be offered to China as it has already objected to such construction.
BRO Also Has The Credit For Making Bailey Bridge At The Highest Altitude.
Explain that a Bailey bridge is a portable, pre-fabricated truss bridge. This bridge is primarily constructed in hilly areas to prepare a way between two mountains. Britain developed this bridge for military use during World War II. BRO has now mastered the construction of Bailey Bridge. BRO also has the credit for making Bailey Bridge the highest height in the world. This bridge is built on the Dras and Suru rivers in Ladakh.

Bailey Bridge Of 200 Feet In Chamoli District
BRO has successfully constructed many Bailey Bridges so far. In 2021, it constructed a 200 feet Bailey Bridge in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This bridge is built on the Rishiganga River, which connects the Joshimath-Malari road. This bridge also provides connectivity to 13 border villages of Chamoli.
India Laid A Network Of Roads In The Northeast
The network of roads could not be prepared in the North Eastern states for a long time. Notably, there were no good roads to reach Army forward posts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). While on the other side of the border, China worked rapidly on road construction. After 2014, the Government of India paid major attention to constructing roads in the Northeast. Long and quality roads have been built on the mountains.
China Expresses Opposition To The Construction Work
Within a short span of time, BRO has built roads in places where it was considered impossible. China has often objected to constructing India’s infrastructure in the northeastern states, but India has been building roads rapidly despite its opposition. With the construction of roads, it has become easier than ever to supply military material to the front of the Army.
